Landless Workers Movement of Brazil Solidarity Night

August 29, 2019

This week, the Amazon burning at a record rate. These fires are not simply the result of climate change, but are a vast acceleration of already occurring deforestation--under the watch of the fascistic government of Jair Bolsonaro--to make room for capitalist industry at the expense of indigenous peoples and rural workers.

Sacramento DSA is hosting Dr. Anthony Pahnke, author of Brazil’s Long Revolution: The Landless Movement’s Challenge to Capitalism and State Sovereignty," to discuss the work of Brazil's Landless Workers Movement (MST), an organization formed by rural workers to fight for land reform and against social injustice and inequality in rural Brazil.

We will begin the evening with a free screening of SonoFed Productions film “Landless” about the MST, and will have a raffle and items available for donation to raise funds for Friends of the MST.
