Socialist Night School: Imperialism

September 24, 2019

Sac DSA's Socialist Education Committee is proud to present a Socialist Night School! This study series examines a wide range of topics with the goal of raising awareness around key socialist concepts.

The Socialist Night School is comprised of four distinct modules. Each module includes a lecture with ample time to discuss, dissect, and debate these topics in a facilitated group conversation. We welcome you to join us!

Socialist Night School: Imperialism
ROOM 11

This course provides a theoretical, historical, and practical understanding of modern imperialism, and why socialists must fight to defeat it. Based upon foundational texts, presentations of key concepts, and group discussion, participants will explore the primary perspectives advanced by socialists on the international situation we confront today. Key concepts will include imperialism, neo-colonialism, the non-aligned nations, the theory of the three worlds, dependency theory, world-systems theory, and anti-imperialist strategies and tactics. The reader will be made available to all registrants and should be read ahead of class in order to be prepared to participate in the discussion.
